You also should have good computer skills, be able to work on your own without supervision and having proper English and grammar is also very important.

There is certification that you can get through the American Association for Medical Transcription but this is not necessary and many people are more than happy to hire medical transcribers that are not certified. As long as you can perform the job you should be able to find a good starting position job that will allow you to get your foot in the door.
